Curry Recipe


  • 340 gms shrimp
  • 450 ml coconut milk
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 2 tbsp chilly powder
  • 1 tsp ginger paste
  • 1 tsp garlic paste
  • 1 large onion sliced
  • 1 small tomato chopped fine
  • 300gms bhindis/okra
  • 1/2 lemon
  • 2-3 raw peeled mango seeds
  • 2-3 kokums
  • 2-3 tbsps oil


Clean prawns, add lemon and salt to taste and leave aside. Wash and lightly steam the okra with 2-3 kokums and set aside. Heat oil in pot, add onions and fry till nice and translucent. Add tomatoes, ginger, garlic paste. Once tomato softens, add turmeric, cumin, coriander and chilly powder. Let it fry on slow flame for few mins. You can add a little water to the paste if it is too dry. Then add the coconut milk and bring to a boil. Let the curry cook on low heat for 20 – 30 mins with 2-3 peeled green mango seeds.
Next add the shrimps, steamed bhindis and cook for 10mins. Turn off heat, ready to eat:)
